If you can get the other guy to fall straight back (as opposed to stepping across for a trip or reaping throw), you reatain the ankle as you both go to the ground. From the natural position this usually produces, you can isolate the guys leg by holding it between your knees, transition your grip on the ankle and step over with your right leg to reap his knee. I found the best throw for this purpose is just retaining the leg and running straight at the guy. With his leg up in your armpit, and your free hand in his face, it's pretty easy to get him to fall on his butt right in front of you. Follow to the ground and pinch the leg between your knees.

Every caught kick is a high single. Big application to MMA IMHO.
While he is on his ass, he can up kick you very hard while both your hands are holding his leg...you need to keep an eye for it.

If you're worried about upkicking you can drop to one knee as he falls. For MMA rules anyway.

Also, you only have one hand retaining the leg while you're standing over him.

yeah, its meant as a catch for a headkick, anything lower is impractical.
the movement is relatively simple: you turn your back to his stomach like you would with the average judo throw and throw him.
The trick is in the dynamic, you have to use his movement and place yourself just right.

    Title says 2013, NOT YET.

I was really hoping we could get 3k BEFORE anything relevant (to the thread title) would happen.

But I've run out of steam, man.

i think you're confusing morote seoi nage and ippon seoi nage, cause this is a case of ippon seoi nage, grabbing the the leg (with oven mitts on.)

lebell didn't mention it, but i find that this throw is really mean, because if uke isn't very good at ukemi, they tend to get thrown right onto their face.

I never learned ippon seoi nage, just morote. I'm guessing face-first ippon seoi nage doesn't exist and that the word you're looking for is AIDIKO.
