Yes, the guys who "do networking" plugging cables into switches and routers often don't have or need technology degrees.

The ones who build and work on 1.9 GHz LTE transmitters or ethernet controller ASICs...all have degrees.

The day may come when global microwave networking doesn't require advanced degrees.

But it is not this day.
    1. They have degrees in very specific fields of computer science, engineering and communications. Some doctors get education in becoming heart surgeons and baby surgeons. I don't understand what your point is here.

    2. I don't get where you get this thing where I don't have a degree.

    Ding. I win.

You won't acknowledge an inescapable truth, that I did all the things you said I wouldn't do.

I was only commenting on that bit your counselor said, and how it tied in with my own experience with the "want do network? do Cisco!" mentality. I see that a lot.

I never said you didn't. Again I was commenting on your dipshit credit pusher.

Did I say credit pusher? I meant guidance counselor.

My guidance counselor told me in 1993 computers were not a good career choice because programming wouldn't be required by 2000. It would all be running itself by then. I would be obsolete.

That's a last laugh I'll be laughing to my grave.

I actually know an LTE design engineer at Qualcomm that doesn't have a degree.
    although this is a rarity.

We call that a scene whore. He/She obviously slept her way in!

**** I just realized these last few posts were supposed to go in the "College" thread.

That all sounds like Bullshido to me.
    That's because it is.
Sirc is a compulsive liar and drama whore.
