This is a BIG problem right now. People around here have a hard time following traffic rules when the power is actually on...they don't know what to do when traffic lights are out so they say "Hey! Must be my luck day" and I swear I've seen moms with SUVs full of kids doing it too.
I think I read somewhere the JS cast was sending their prayers etc...and immediate backlash from folks online.
But keep in mind that show represents not just a few beach bums but a whole culture, on top of a 200+ year history of some of the greatest beaches on the East coast.
My wife was in tears when they showed Point Pleasant, one of her favorite spots since she was a kid.
I think this is Belmar..that thing off in the distance is a roller coaster now in the ocean.

Homes smashed into other homes by the storm surge.

People are stealing generators, fighting over gas, and yep breaking into homes.
Wife wants me to teach her how to handle a shotgun. Not bad for a city girl who couldn't pump her own gas when I met her. -

Thanks guys. Honestly, my situation is infinitely better than that of people on the shore or in Staten Island, where waves washed more than 1 mile inland and drowned people who were nowhere near the water.
If you can donate online to the Red Cross, now's the time.
Watch out of phishing scams in email, on Facebook, and fake websites....they always bloom after a major catastrophe. The Red Cross has 4,000 disaster workers across storm damaged areas, with thousands more en route from other states, Charley Shimanski, the organization's vice president of disaster services, said Friday.
Nearly 7,000 people spent the night in emergency shelters across the region, including 30 shelters that opened in New Jersey, he said.

I just heard on the radio stories of looters using stolen boats and jet skis to scavenge homes that aren't accessible via road yet...sounds like bullshit but I would not be surprised.
Also hearing many, many more reports of gas station fights and disturbances. Most of the police in my area are solely devoted to gas station duty right now....sometimes 2-3 cruisers per station, because each has hundreds of people in line.
