    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Keeping my bitch under control

    Dog training

Every dog should be trained, and under control, especially large ones

When I see some dog owner running after thier ill disciplined dog, screaming its name, I snear.

    Get your bitch under control!

I always make sure my dogs are well trained (well, mostly)

This one's OK, but my last dog, Doofa, would bark on command. It's pretty tricky getting a dog to bark on command

I would be interested to hear from other Bullies who train dogs or have an intrest in dog obedience

I just wish my training techniques would work on the kids!

Man, I thought this was going to be a thread about muzzle devices, choke chains and radio perimiter shock collars...

...but then I saw that it is about dogs...

That dog looks like it's having a great time!

which is odd considering it's apparently being stalked by a heavy breather.

A friend of mine was an animal trainer for the San Diego Zoo, and I was with her to watch some sea lion and dolphin trainers do their thing in Mexico. I asked her what she looked for in the trainers. One of the main things, she said, was making sure they do the right thing completely after your signal before rewarding them. For example, she noticed that one time when a trainer gave a dolphin the signal to swim all the way around the tank, it cut a corner, so the trainer had the animal do it again before giving it a fish. Apparently this principle is pretty consistent when it comes to training animals.

It should be consistent with training in general.

I'm not mad keen on food rewards for training dogs. I prefer play/attention rewards
