    Hell yeah! Hell no!
    I've always wanted a .308 in semi-auto in a AR platform.

    Linked for tonight's gun pron.

I'd want different optics, but the overall package has me sporting wood.

What about a VEPR or SAIGA chambered in .308?While they aren't built in the US, they are built on a very reliable platform (Kalashnikov) and are pretty damn accurate. They aren't badly priced either.

Excellent suggestion. I will raise my hand in shame and admit that while I think the wood furniture option is by far the most attractive, I would probably go with the tacticool Vepr. The picatinny rail makes mounting optics much simpler than the typical AK-style mounting rail on the left hand side.

Yeah I suppose intended purpose makes a HUGE difference :) He wants a hunting rifle, however he also wants it as an all around SHTF kinda rifle. As far as game he didn't mention, I know he wants to be able to take down a deer with it.

He has his eye on the Scout Gunsite rifle, I think he's looked at the M1A but didn't like the price. I tried suggesting the American Rifle by ruger as well. he's still trying to narrow it down. so I figured get some insite.
