That video really shows you how hopeless you are against someone armed with a huge knife and sorta knows what you are doing.

This is Itay Gil, from jerusalem israel. He teaches Krav Maga amongst other things. He has the biggest MMA school in jerusalem, employing MT guys, an american wrestling coach, BJJ ect. He also had an old MMA school back in the 90's when we called it here "Boshido". Those knife defences he shows , are as legit as possible. He has an excellent ground game, they spar hard, no gams there. I have no idea what happened to KM where you guys live, here they tend to cross it with MT and BJJ.

Yeah I have had it thrown out at me from time to time.

The difference is that it is an even fight that can take longer.

And in human weapon they sewing machine on the presenter and stop with the instuctor. Unless he has completly neutralised the attack which I just don't see.

Basicly human weapon is not a good example. Especially considering I think they did stick and knife stuff before they did krav.

There is a huge difference between martial arts sports and street fighting. Sports have rules and is usually one on one. In street fighting, the unknown unknown is huge (is he alone? does he have a weapon? Is he trained? Do I need to protect my family or can I run away? How stressed am I, etc.).

Having some experience is any martial arts is good as long as you are aware of the situation and don't think that it will be a clean fight.

RBSD arguments aside, I don't think the author knows much about Kosen judo.

The two biggest assumptions in these arguments:
1. That the BJJ training method does not translate to other environments. In other words, positional control does not help when someone is not on the mat. I think there are enough posts/videos even from this website to debunk that line of reasoning.
2. That KM guys can finish their opponents within seconds, if not with one punch capability. Sure, it looks good against unsuspecting or willfully compliant attackers, but anyone with any striking experience knows that finishing someone so quickly is far less likely than the KM guys claim.

The biggest advantage BJJ guys have over the more dogmatic types is that the training is 'data driven'. BJJ schools picked up judo and wrestling because they saw the weaknesses of the stand up in competition. No-gi arguably blossomed with the advent of MMA, and BJJ schools that integrate with MMA are developing approaches to handle skilled strikers and wrestlers. What do the 'dogma-driven' schools like KM offer? Hocus pocus, voodoo magic, and hand wavey claims without hard, pressure-driven evidence.
