I just spoke with the owner of Carlson Gracie Team MMA Chicago. He and I have resolved the situation to my great satisfaction. He has demonstrated that he is an ethical business owner. I trust his explanation of the circumstances; it seems that my experience was a combination of miscommunication on both ends, poor timing, and a little bad luck.

Based on this experience, I would not hesitate to join his gym if I felt it was the right fit for me.

They tend to not delete things here, this is a good thread to show that when these sorts of situations do come up at Carlson Gracie's place that they get handled had you gone to them in the 1st place to get it handled you would have saved yourself a lot of trouble. This goes in general for all sorts of problems.

I know you don't need me to agree here, but everywhere else I've seen this guy, the response has been "Great, see, you did the right thing and spoke to them, and they took care of you. Now let's all hug and kiss and tell each other we are pretty." Or something like that.
