Sounds kinda stupid to me.
-wouldn't they prefer to attract the career-driven disciplined crowd with the benefits approach, or the service to community crowd with the patriotism approach?
-don't the National Guard spend like 0-1% of their time doing anything like cagefighting?
I'm not sure if this is better or worse than the old Marines ad with the guy hacking and slashing his way through a D&D labyrinth. -

Yes, people join for multiple reasons. When you advertise, you are supposed to target a specific demographic.
Think of all the different ads and look at who they target.
Broke People.
Young People.
Career minded people.
Adrenaline Junkies.
Adrift People.
Patriotic people.
Minorities.
I mean why not target the "meatheads?" ****, they can cage fight, earn a paycheck and shoot guns. Why not hit that large demographic?
I have a friend, who was smart as hell, follow a dude into the military "cuz she was in luv."
He joined cuz he wanted to get off drugs. I don't know what happened to him, but I know she isn't with him any longer. The hood mentality is crippling disease, that attacks your nervous system. Yes, we know EXACTLY what you are talking about and it changes nothing said. IF you are going to argue "WTF OMG BULLSHIDO" that is another can of worms.
Their job is too get people to join. The frequency of training and their skill level is irrelevant. As a consumer, it is on YOU to understand the reality of training for skill. The hood mentality is crippling disease, that attacks your nervous system. It makes you nervous of the system. I actually wanted to make sure I knew exactly what I am talking about. I suppose I should have just Googled it but I couldn't really recall if the National guard behavior exactly like the other types of units.
My fault, I made the classical mistake of confusing the reservist I meet through my social circles as being the "typical guard" IE coworkers at fortune 500 companies.
especially juxtaposed to all the active duty people I have known from being a navy brat in San Diego. It does give me a highly skewed view.
So here is the next question, given the limited time they meet do they have the time to
devote to training combatives? I was under the impression (could be mistaken) that they where fairly busy already.
