    From Bujinkan, where else!?

Geez. I can't believe some noobs.
Deluxe247 tells it like it is:

you ninja fags just got owned in a bad way. this thread should go to the classics and mega thread forum due to the sheer size of taebo_master and gajusceaser's penis. (with which they just smacked across these ninja's faces)

    17) Dr. Hatsumi is infallable and is the best fighter in the world. Everything he says must be followed.

As ex-Bujinkan myself, I'd agree with everything he posted (and wish I wrote it myself). Number one is very true. They don't like cross-training of any type. I had several teachers tell me that even jogging is bad for your form and shouldn't be done because my Taijutsu should be all the exercise I need! When I mentioned that I wanted to cross-train in grappling one instructor (a 9th(!) Dan) giggled and commented that all that "sport stuff wrasslin'" doesn't work and he only teaches 'real' str33t techniques. I was then asked to leave. Sigh.

Any other ex-Bujinkan want to add to the list? I can come up with a number of new entries.

My favorite quote happened when I asked a Bujinkan Shihan to demonstrate anti-grappling. He did some pathetic technques (didn't even have someone who could do a proper takedown), and then stood up after the technique. He was very winded and proclaimed:

“Well it doesn’t matter anyway. Groundfighting requires too much work and Taijutsu should be effortless…”

    Ha!!

I also am a 10th Dan and lived in Japan for 7 yrs.
I trained with Alex and he always was a putz.
and even before I added SBG concepts and BJJ I always sparred. I competed in the Mr. Tokyo 65 kilo Bodybuilding Championships. Also another Bujinkan Member Sean Askew cross trained in Shooto and Hontai Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu with Hatsumi's blessing. The only cross training Taboo is not with any break off orgs like the Genbukan or the Jinenkan.
Also remember both Hatsumi and Nagato Sensei are 5th Dans in judo. Hatsumi Sensei boxed and Nagato Sensei was a kickboxing champ.

Then why is this practice discouraged in the Bujinkan dojos in the US? I've been to schools all over this country and I would have loved to find a Bujinkan school with an instructor who trained the way you described. I never found this to be the case. I'll admit there are dojos that may train this way, but they are so far in the minority that it weakens the Bujinkan system significantly.

    Katana has a point.

I am an ex Bujinkaner as well and heard many of the same things, especially about lifting weights. I only met a few Bujinkan instructors that currently cross trained and didn't follow at leat 5 of the things posted.

The PDF newsletter was interesting, but what did the guy mean by "dark spirituality" and how it dosen't come from god? Is he implying that martial arts cults are, like, satanic or something?
