    My Introduction

Hey what's going on every one. My name is Mike Johnson and Im pretty sure all you experienced forum user's know the purpose behind this thread. I wanted to say hello and give a brief explanation about who I am and why I joined. All my life I've had a deep interest in martial art's, rather it be the style's of eastern martial arts such as Wing Chun and Kung Fu. Japanese martial arts such as Karate or Judo. Or western martial art's such as boxing or wrestling (we'll boxing and wrestling are more of a Greek thing but im pretty sure you don't need me to tell you that . These are just a few of my martial art's interest to name (The list can go on forever). As far as my personal training go though, Im training in mixed martial art's, and that's why I'm here. From time to time I've Google searched Bullshido just to read random threads on anything ranging from skill & technique, all the way down to personal fitness & dieting and everything I've read so far has been very helpful and beneficial to my own training. So I decided to join and introduce myself and some of my background in the world of martial arts. About my training though......five months back I enrolled in the MMA program at my local martial arts academy and I was glad that I did. Before joining this program I really sat down and thought long and hard about where I would start my martial arts journey since I realized that one single martial art wouldn't cover every aspect of fighting (stand up, grappling & submission etc.). In the end mixed marital arts was my final choice. While it's a brutal art form I beleive that it's a very effective one with a lot of knowledge to offer none the less. I was excited for day one of my training. An hour into it though I realized day one was pure hell lol, I learned quickly that with this hybrid system of martial art's, you gotta be well conditioned and pretty focused physically, mentally, and even spiritually :yaoming: . During my first day I kept gassing out and I was sweating up a storm. Since day one, a lot has changed though. Im not gassing out left and rite. My drill's are coming along a lot more smoother, and my technique has improved a great deal, and my sparring matches are coming along great. Our MMA system is built around Boxing,Muay Thai, Brazilian Jujitsu, and judo ( pretty basic huh :PFFFTCCHCHCHHFFFTTT). But just like any other beginner. I still need a lot of work and I figured the best way to improve myself outside my dojo training is to talk with other's that are involved in the same teachings as me. This is great place to be and there's a lot to do here rather it be trash talk amongst friends :gtroll:. Or dive into serious conversations. I dont wanna go on all day so I'll end my thread here. Hope to here from any and everyone here at Bullshido.net

Five months into your training, huh? In that case, the best way to supplement your training outside of the gym would be to journal what you learned when you get home, and study that. You really don't need outside influences, only your coach's training when you're still just learning the basics.

If you really want to turn your computer into a dojo, though, quit watching porn and crank down to some Alexandre Ribeiro videos, instead.

Damn that **** gets me going.
