Yeah, I was thinking after I posted that it wasn't exactly Disney, because they've been big in Japan for a long time, but I think the more general idea of animation for everyone vs animation for children has some merit.

I think the kids of this generation have the best of both worlds: the entire anime and cartoon catalogs we had as kids (in digital no less), as well as all the new stuff.
My kids are into Super Mario, Thundercats, Transformers, Iron Man, and ninjas. This stuff stands the test of time. But then Avatar TLA came along and kids will always remember that show too. Avatar even has it's own "Next Generation" sequel now that will carry on the mythology.
Star Trek has stood the test of time for half a century now that way.

Someone mentioned Avatar, that's a really good one. Adventure time. Phineas and Ferb. I watched an episode of the new looney toons and it seemed really good.
