I'm not looking at TV for a role model but YOUR kids are.
Question: If you saw a woman beating the crap out of a man in a public place, a park or mall, let's say. (and I mean a serious beating bloody nose busted lip scratched face) Would you step in? Or would you pull our your phone and post the vid on YouTube? If he hit her back would you step in then? On who's side? Ever hear the term "mangina"? Look it up. -

Fine. We'll have a discussion about this. I watched 10 minutes of that video. I neither completely agree or disagree with a number of her points. I'll address some of the issues she mentioned from my point of view.
Should be women be allowed to fight on the front lines in combat? Yes I think so.
Are men disposable? Yes, yes they are. I can accept this fact and still be a strong role model for my son and his friends.
From my perspective, men are still at the top in the workplace. Women are steadily closing the gap however. Men whining and crying about this remind me of a child who doesn't want to share his toys.If you do not test yourself against the unknown, how can you truly know if the tools you possess actually work? -

I have no kids, no tv,
and you are a liar.
It was the litmus test you provided and furthermore i said "looking to", not at:
It's still how men are portrayed in pop culture. I've been trying to think of a tv show where a man in a domestic environment is not shown as an idiot. Haven't come up with one yet.^That's you, looking to tv for role models.... I would respond with The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, Animal Practice and Guys with Kids for starters....
Oh, it's hypothetical time? Already?Question: If you saw a woman beating the crap out of a man in a public place, a park or mall, let's say. (and I mean a serious beating bloody nose busted lip scratched face) Would you step in?
It's a really bad idea to intervene in a domestic dispute as a whole, i'm not a cop.
"Call 911" is the best answer, the rest of your hastily constructed fallacies are pointless to discuss.
Oh but "mangina"?
Yes, you are one. -

Curent shows: Grimm, Switched At Birth, Castle just off the top of my head. A couple of years old, Friday Night Lights and Medium both had complicated, smart guys in domestic situations. And that's just broadcast TV, lots more in cable like The Wire.
PS the Cosby Show is over 20 years old. There's been plenty of good TV intervening with smart guys in various situations. Sitcoms play everything for laughs, they're bad examples.Last edited by NeilG; 10/16/2012 1:35pm at .

This is pretty funny because the "smart guy" is in fact an actual tv trope as are a host of other male roles, see here:

False stats and all of that fallacious bullshit aside, your response is ****.
Let me know when you want a discussion not a soap box.
Neil missed your semantic based statement I didn't. I named one and the best you could do was make up some fake stats and lie. It's still how men are portrayed in pop culture. Haven't come up with one yet.The hood mentality is crippling disease, that attacks your nervous system. It makes you nervous of the system. Gangsters and hood rats are especially susceptible to this growth stunting mentality. The hood is where I'm from, but it's not what I am. That's quite an insinuation to make.
Firstly, **** you and your 'somebody think of the childrenz' bullshit. If you're worried about the role models TV is providing for your choldren, maybe get up off your whinging ass and provide a better one yourself.
Second, please stop advocating on behalf of me and my gender. Your 'poor me' bullshit is not only pathetic (and a personal pet hate of mine) it is a social privation. Grow a spine and quit your fucking whinging.Dum spiro, spero.
