Ghurka kicks mugger's ass and holds him down despite having blade stuck in his arm

Sorry for the long title but I guess this is another worthy Bad Ass of the month contender.

Basically a retired Ghurka is out with his wife and is approached by an armed mugger at an ATM. He calmly warns the mugger that he's a former Ghurka but the mugger still attacks him and gets his ass kicked even though he manages to bury the five inch blade of the knife into his arm.

Do they get a British citizenship when they are done with their contract? Like the french foreign legion?

After reading an exceptionally long Wikipedia reference, I gather that they do under certain circumstances.

On 21 May 2009, the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith announced that all Gurkha veterans who retired before 1997 with at least four years service would be allowed to settle in the UK.

Yup, and even then, they had to kick our parliament and government policy makers' asses through the courts just to win that right.

yeah, Joanna Lumley, I believe her father was a British officer that served with the Ghurkas rather than a Ghurka himself,

from what I understand post 1997 Ghurkas already had this right, the fight was to give equal rights to soldiers who served prior to that.

Another justifiable reason that we should ride the nutts of the Gurkhas, IMO!!
