    Intro and hello

So far, having read all the READMEs and poking around some of the main forums, this is a great place to obtain and share information on martial arts. Best forum I have seen so far. Thanks.

As a way of introduction, I recently passed my first degree BB test in Hapkido after three years of training. I really love Hapkido, but have recently supplemented it with separate MMA class (kickboxing and BJJ) at the same school. I know there are more intense MMA schools in my area with full contact sparring, etc., but I'm 50 years old now and mainly looking to get in better shape (cardio, strength, speed, coordination). And I really like my Hapkido teachers (5th degree, 4th degree and 3rd degree) as well as the other Hapkido and MMA students at this school.

Sweet! and I look just like the guy with the paisley red suit too! People just don't know about my earlier music career anymore, thanks! :)

Just for clarity are you saying that your current school does not do full contact sparring?

to be honest, I would rather not say yet, I want to have some frank discussions about the school I go to while still respecting my current teachers

No, unfortunately, only kicking and punching to the body in standup and BJJ, obviously no punching, just submissions, so no MMA full contact cagefighting stuff (is that what you are asking?), but, TBH, at 50, I'm just trying to stay in shape, not looking to get my teeth knocked out :) And besides, it's basically a TKD/Hapkido school that happens to offer kickboxing and BJJ classes because of the experience of one of it's teachers

Hahaha, awesome! I didn't want to mention it, but I've been itching to say it as soon as I joined.
