I was curious how many of us would list call the cops in the response. The FIRST thing I would do is get the phone, unlock it, and make the call, as I investigate the sound. That's 5 seconds, to have someone on the way.
For years, I lived in the hood, but now I'm in the outskirts of the city. It's different out here, and a lot of cops from various precincts live here. It's more rare to have drama, as the vast overwhelming majority of the households aren't the least bit reluctant to call the cops, if something is going down. That includes things that aren't going down, but sound like they are. Fine with me, I'm quiet at home.
I could yell out my bedroom window, and police would be on the scene in 3-5 minutes. Response time in Boston, from my experience, is quite good if it's dire. If it isn't a safety-emergency, response time is kinda frustrating.
When it counts though, it's high speed, and that's partly why I live in a city (that and I gotta be where the shows are).
