Even in the those days there were "editors", and many added or left out parts of the original texts when they reproduced them. Who knows?
I did not mention that story in order to spark any kind of religion or history debate. I was only referring to being called a "Sheep Boy". I thought it was pretty funny, and it just brought to mind another "Sheep Boy", and I've always thought that the story was pretty cool.
I also referred to it is as "A very old story." I did not say it is fact or fiction. Proving either without a doubt would be very difficult, if not impossible.
I did not quote the Bible, only paraphrased the story.
I've been away for a couple days, and I found it very interesting the discussions that one little comment seemed to generate.

First Book Of Kings (1 Samuel)
after a few days David rose up, and went with the men that were under him, and he slew of the Philistines two hundred men, and brought their foreskins and numbered them out to the king

Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people; and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him.
What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
