It's likely just another example of "yay-our-team". No biggie.

Still not clear on the Pontius Pilate reference. Decades ago, in a school far, far away, we were taught that he was reluctant to have jc executed, and only allowed it to placate a mob of zealots and highly-offended rabbis or whatever they called themselves back then. As I recall, there was even an offer from Pilate to free him and execute someone else (Barabbas), but the local taliban and their merry crew wanted jc dead.

The bit about fighting harlots makes more sense, though. Never could buy into the accuracy of the peaceful-hippy sounding "let-he-who-is-without-sin-cast-the-first-stone" tale. If there's one thing about middle-eastern cult leaders, they're consistent--and going apeshit with jihad-rage, about things they don't agree with, is indeed their well-established norm.

Does sarcasm and a plagiarized story bother you that much? DO you really need it explained?

I have a hard time believing a roman prefect would give a damn what the people wanted. Unfortunately no Roman court records have surfaced.

There are about 5 versions of Pilate outside of "organized religion." The two that are most debated:
The spoon fed bible stuff that doesn't reconcile with VM's upbringing.
The inferred plagiarized "Goliath" version I used.

I have to admit I am a bit out of my depth not being raised a Christian
I am aware of Josephus and Tacitus as well as the Pilate Stone.
I would think we should see more records given the levels of literacy amongst the Romans and Jews.

Naw, I'm good. We are talking about Pontius Pilate and his different portrayals.

Actually, it has nothing to do with Christianity. It was courses I took for a minor I never completed.

It's just like anything, we have no clue what will be important 2000 years from now.

Just to be nonreligious, a dude was tried, convicted and killed for his beliefs. Seriously, that happens a ton throughout history. Everyone knows MLKjrs story, not too many people know about William Lewis Moore.

I love the assumption that I have not. Maybe just maybe its not as convincing as you think it is.
