Volunteer Crowdsourcing. It would be the same as if Bullshido had a sign up mod program, with the idea that the more people reviewing content the less trouble, no matter how it scales.

But that's a flawed model in open (i.e. free sign up) internet communities... because plenty of the volunteers are douchebags and troll-hobbyists like Mr. Brutsch. Can you sign up 20,000? Sure, but you can't control them all, especially when the worst offenders have connections with Reddit HQ.

And "anonymity"? That's the least of your problems, it's lost all the time on the internet in some form or another.

What matters is what you did online, at the end of the day.

Michael Brutsch, of Arlington, Texas—said on Saturday that he was fired from from his position at a financial services company, leaving him and his disabled wife with little savings and no health insurance.

I feel sorry for the guy's wife.

Also, what a fucking piece of ****. He deserves all he gets. I got bored, I started playing D&D on a message board. As opposed to doing pervert stuff, for example.

im just amazed someone who is apparently quite savvy with the internet could be so fucking naive as to think he would never be unmasked. nothing is sacred on the internet, least of all your true identity.

i'm going to guess that the answer is "not very, unless you are also using a paid VPN, and even then not really unless they actually won't rat you out"

IIRC if you access TOR via a proxy, you're completely anonymous. Granted you need to disable all the addons on your browser and not download anything

The onion is a great project that has been used successfully for a long time for many noble purposes, such as getting around state censorship and draconian regimes.

But if you are a criminal and you try to use online anonymity services of any kind....YMMV. Chances are the Internet works differently than you are aware and you've seen too many movies...
