I was more referring to the crab core nonsense as indicative of good breakdowns. It seems like they just threw whatever had any sort of following over the last few years into a blender and came up with that. Tassie metal is definitely new genre to me. I guess it is a way better moniker than marsupial metal. Good on you and the people of your island.

What do you call that thing that's sort of like a breakdown, but the metal equivalent? Where a song is mostly blasts or snare hits on the off-beat, and then it suddenly falls into even time so that you can bang your head around? I have a lot of those. I've never known what you call them, though. You could probably just call them breakdowns, but that'd upset the battlejacket crowd.
Here's a kind of crusty-thrashy-80s type one that I've always loved: (2:00 - 3:30)
Here's a powery black metal one: (1:30 - 3:30)
Here's a really silly power metal one: (3:00 - 4:35)
And this is probably my favourite breakdown ever in the metalcore-y sense of the word: (2:20 - 4:15)
