    Sayoc Kali on NCIS: LA

    http://www.cbs.com/shows/ncis_los_an...-the-fifth-man

Last night's NCIS featured Sayoc Kali in the scene after the intro & Agent Sam Hanna used a stick disarm later on in the episode. Can't say much for Chris O'Donnell & Daniela Ruah's performance...but you know LL Cool J is gonna knock them out

"Nothing says fun like getting choked out by a stick."

And... Operation: Wideawake? You mean: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Wideawake

The ending of this episode can't possibly compare with the one I've now written in my head -- even with Sayoc disarms.

I watched the show. Right after the opening credits the scene opened with two actors doing something that looked like really BAD "La Canne" (from Savate). Twirly moves and everything. They finished with the two actors holding the sticks over their heads like Japanese sword fighters. Then one did a simple, stick assisted, arm lock to the other to end it the exchange.

Another actor walked in and asked what they were doing and he was told
    "Sayoc ............ Stick Grappling".

    I cringed.

Whatever anyone thinks about the Sayoc material, nothing could be that bad.

Kali, BJJ, MMA is creeping into a lot of shows now. I saw the Kali on NCIS:LA and on ARROW has busted out a triangle choke armbar bar and training kali.

Yeah, my thoughts were the same. I don't know enough about the Sayoc curriculum to say anything specific, but yeah, it was obvious they spent very little time drilling it.

It generally didn't resemble any of the Sayoc that I've been. Especially that bit where they raised their sticks like they were playing Samurai. A wasted opportunity to show case the system I thought.
