Those who attended now claim to be skilled in its use.

Google is useless so i can only assume that they have all sewn "Welcome" into it and made it part of their home entering ceremony.

They attach them to Chinese swords, for reasons that differ depending on who you ask, including:
-distracting the opponent from the blade itself
-counterbalancing the weapon
-having a cleaning rag always available for the blade
-ID badge by color
