We seriously need a how do handwrap thread.
Otherwise good gloves are also a bonus. I like the Punch armadillos. But that will be more of an Aussie thing.
As for wraps. Get long ones. Pretty much the more wrap you have the more protection you get.Last edited by gregaquaman; 10/05/2012 1:31am at .

I'f you're just starting out the most important way to protect your hands is to remember technique before power, i.e. when you start hitting bags you don't need to pound away on the fuckers as hard as you can, work on correct technique and building speed before power.
Other than that wrap the hands and ask around for glove recommendations.
Some wacky guy with pink hair did a good instructional vid on hand wrapping here:

If you're really concerned about not damaging your hands, you might reconsider whether you want to concentrate on boxing as a means of self defense.
