    what is a shovel hook?
It is a sort of hybrid mix between a hook and an uppercut. It is normally directed up and in to the body, ie. the float ribs, liver,..... It was orginally used by the Mexican National Boxing Team(according to my coach). When it is done correctly, it hurts the receiver extremely bad. I used it quite well in my boxing and kickboxing career, back in the "old days." I will try to find a video of it in use.

Here is a video of the shovel hook. It is not a great video, but it does show it.

She has some crispy punches, very nice. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of them. Though it is more of an uppercut with an angle than a hook.

If you've got a bunch of guys get everyone to wear sparring gloves and shin pads. One is pad holder ((just using the palm of your hand/glove) and moves backwards whilst the attacker strikes the legs, body and gloves. The gloves are just held up as a target, there's no need for really good pad holding skills.
When you get to the end of the room the attacker now practices fighting on the backfoot. So the human punching bag now walks on. And back and forth for the round.

For pad holding I don't train often enough anymore, so apart from technique I work a couple of favourites... Slip the jab, counter right.
And take a right hand on the glove or forearm, counter left hook.

Add whatever 2,3, or 4 punch combination afterwards,, like straight right left hook/rip combos. helps to have one of those body belt things.

I liked the first idea very much. Though the strikes can't be too hard i guess, the movement part is the thing. We do similar drills, with punching mainly, or slipping.

You only hit as hard as you want to be hit when it's your turn ;)

lol, true that. Though because i'm the senior guy there, they feel the need to work me, god forbid ill have it easy. Also, they interpret muscle as shield/extra padding, which is BS, u still feel the pain! ur just to ashamed to show it:) i fucking hate leg kicks...
