Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu in the Bay Area--Open Mat!

    Gents,

I'm hoping to get together a good amount of DZR Judoka/Jujitsuka together for open-mat style randori here in Campbell, Ca on the weekends. My dojo has proper classes on the weekdays during which we randori, but I want to get a few more hours in each week with some varied opponents--why not broaden the pool? My current plan is for a two hour session Saturday from 11 to 1pm working randori with jujitsu rules (match doesn't end at ippon, continues until submission), and a 2 hour session on Sunday from 1 to 3pm, working only ne-waza. I need to work on my Seifukujitsu, and will offer restorative massage (gratis) after whoopin' on folks in class. Come and join me!

Any other Hawaiian jujitsu stylists from the Bay Area here who would be interested in this? I'll be honest, I'm outright stealing this idea from the Brazilian brothers... a friend of mine runs a BJJ school out here, and they have a regular open mat and invite all the academies in the area to work. An absolutely fantastic idea, and I'm pilfering it unashamedly. Let's put some work in. I'm going to call the other local DZR dojos and invite them, but thought I'd post here as well in case folks are interested who train at places I'm not familiar with.

Sounds like a good idea. Too bad nobody is doing such a thing in Central Texas.

I guess that I could set something up, but I'm in no position to provide any sort of instruction. I do have some mats, but not enough. I'd probably have to drop a few hundred. Maybe after Christmas I'll try to get something started. If people want to come to my garage and teach me things for free, I'm all in.
