Freed the day Regan was sworn in.
Sam, thanks for the heads-up on Baer's book. Have put on the 'to read someday list' which is fairly long.

Wow, some of you must have failed US History.
Reagan did not lay the groundwork for the release of the hostages in 1981. He did nothing to bring it about. That was the work of Carter's Deputy Secretary of State Warren Christopher, commonly known the Algiers Accords, during Carter's administration.
The fact that the hostages' freedom came minutes into Reagan's first term is irrelevant. It was a matter of timing: Reagan simply signed the final document, which was handed to him because time had come to change presidents.
Oh and Reagan began violating the Algiers Accords immediately afterward.
How politics blinds people to recorded history never ceases to amaze me, especially when it comes to certain a GOP golden calf. But that is what happens when you let yourselves get taken in by the fantasy worlds portrayed by the politicians.

On November 2, the Iranian parliament finally set forth formal conditions for the hostages' release and eight days later Deputy Secretary of State Warren Christopher arrived in Algiers with the first U.S. reply setting off a slow motion diplomatic shuffle between Washington, Algiers and Tehran.
We can disagree on whether this was 'relevant'.
LOL at you calling anyone politically blind.

LOL at all of you looking through your own lenses and then saying "No U."
I'm going to use that same lens and say:
"I think 8 Billion dollars, that was frozen, and their fucked up the economy had more to do with anything related to Reagan or Carter.

I hope Obama wins and loses the popular vote. I want to play the race card to irritate people.

I hope Romney wins and loses the popular vote.
Time to get rid of that stupid electoral college thingy.
With you on the race card.

LOL, it won't change that way. It didn't with Gore, even though everyone was screaming change. Now, if Obama wins while losing that ****'ll be fixed in a heart beat.
