I believe that all that's happening is your body choosing freeze over fight or flight, But I'm not a doctor. If I were you I would just spar and spar and spar until my body started opting for the fight option. -

Style: Seido-Juku Karate (UK)--
When I used to do Judo, when I was a child, I had no hesitation with this. Grappling and tying each other up in knots was awesome.
When I started to spar in Karate I was full of bravado until I got punched very hard then I remember my mind telling to 'Get out of there' and like you I just froze..
I agree with jetex88, just keep on sparring. A little tip I picked up was to keep smiling.
Smiling is said to release happy hormones and sometimes it can confuse the crap out of your opponent.

Hello members,
Some of the Muay Thai Training Tips are:
* Never take your eyes off your opponent
* Never drop your guard whenever you are attacking
* Develop a system of pattern recognition
* Never turn your face away whenever you are attacking
* Do not become tense right before you strike
