Here's some of session 3's single and double stick efforts:
When life gives you lemons... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!
"what's the best thing about aikido then?"
"To be defeated by your enemies, to be driven by them from the field of battle, and to hear the lamentations of your women." ermghoti -

And here's a bit from session 4. This time just concentrating on hand-tagging.
I took a real fucking beating this session. I'll see if I can get some photo's of the bruises up in a minute
Note for double irony points, that the Aikidoka is wearing a genuine GrappleArts t-shirt, and Tapout Shorts :-D

Yeah, pretty much WEKAF with kicks. Stick to the head is 2 points, body is 1 point, weapon hand is 1 point. Punches and kicks score but palm heel just counts as a check. Stick to a kicking leg or alive hand is no points but its allowed. Here's the in-depth rules if you're interested:

Thanks guys! This is the first one we've done so it was mainly Warriors Eskrima and affiliate groups. I think we are trying to do another one in March. I'm sure if people hear about it and want to get involved there shouldn't be any problems. The guy who organises it (also the ref) is my instructor and he just wants as many people to put their art into practice. No ego or BS just a mutual love of smashing the hell out of each other with sticks! And you can see Guro Krishna in background having a good time watching the fights.
And yeah, the check and thrust is a great technique and strategy to do, thrusting/stabbing seems really underuse in stick sparring and fighting I feel. It worked a treat for all day long.
Fighting in a cage is a good experience as there is basically nowhere to run so defence and footwork are high on the agenda. Although I need to work on my foot work next time around.
