Cracked says Average Martial students Sucks

Well another Cracked screw up you may say
But there is quite a lot of true in it, how many Krotty Mcdojos and TKD fun time praticioners are ? vs the alive and hard sparring arts?

"Take up a martial art. Don't have any fantasies about utility. Experts can defend themselves, but the average martial arts student couldn't defend himself against harsh language

And? We have an entire forum called "Your martial art sucks", and BJJ, Sambo, Muay Thai, etc. are a drop in an ocean compared to Ninjitsu, kung fu, wing chun, reality based self defense, Keysi Fighting method, and so forth.
Nothing to see here, citizens. Move along.

The article is about things you should do while in college, not MAs.
There's a lot of specifics missing for us to make any judgements on the accuracy of his observations.

Meaning that if you do a couple years worth of training maybe twice a week so that it doesn't interfere with your load of schoolwork - well then it doesn't really matter if you choose an alive art or bullshido, you shouldn't "have any fantasies about utility". MA as just a hobby = fun exercise and not much more.

Even if you can reliably win streetfights the utility is highly questionable on a cost/benefit basis.

Unless you're taking your calsses at college/Uni, where they tend to be pretty cheap.

Thrutch Jnr's college does free kickboxing classes, and a lot of classes at uni clock in at much less than the cost of a pint. You might not come out of them ready to step into the cage, but if you're getting a decent workout a couple of times a week for not much money then there's value in it. Plus there might be chicks there.

When the clubs at my university demonstrated, karate were kicking their way across a hall, Shaolin were calling out the summoning of Captain Planet en masse, BJJ were using real-life 40-hit combos and the Aikidoka were practicing how to fall over without hurting themselves. The choice was obvious. And while I still have the street-combat ability of a curbside sofa, unlike most martial arts students, I got real use out of my skill on nights out.
I think he's admitting to being an Aikidoka.

I kind of agree with that, i mean taking TKD, or what have you twice a week for a year or two won't make you a good street fighter, and you better be realistic about your abilities.
