I want to see Headmaster Dealy teach a class. All of my teachers have been incredibly specific about technique, and all of his students move just like him. Surely this is on purpose, right? Does he specifically tell them to lean over when they kick? Does he only teach the "low block -> (???) kick" combination in sparring? "Don't use your hips, kicking power comes from sticking your butt out. Lean over more."
I would give anything to hear him discuss technique. -

Yeah I think what happens when you are in a system like that, is as you go through the ranks, you become quite deluded by what they teach you. I can't attest to the reasoning in this system, but in the system that I was in, if you didn't clap, express proper admiration, or questioned the techniques of the masters, there would be hell to pay. But as seen in the videos with all of the black belts, by that point, you can probably bet the house that they really do believe in their own superiority & greatness & aren't questioning technique. Anyone questioning them probably would have gotten weeded out early on.

Good point & I agree with you. The instructors who I knew didn't see it that way, though. Funny how once you are indoctrinated into a system like that, how differently you view reality. Like in the Antarctica video. People from outside their system probably look at that video & see a guy demonstrating what a penguin would look like having a seizure; the people within the system probably see excellent kata.
