An update:

Since my last post a new "Texas Sambo Association" was formed by the good people at Dominion (not that they have demonstrated any sambo credentials or anything). The group was spotted on facebook but, with no mention of who created the group. A quick address search matched them with Dominion. They did however affiliate with the Canadian Combat Sambo Federation under Eugene Shewchuk. Eugene has confirmed their membership with me as of March 17, 2013. Though he did clarify that he has not offered any kind of instructor cert to anyone there; that it is simply a club membership. The affiliation is not listed on either website.

Also worth noting is that Dominion has not yet removed their USJA Charter Club status, despite confirmation that they are not. But, just to be sure I checked and they are still not listed on the USJA website.

Again, I tried to look into their coaches credentials but could find little other than what has been posted here earlier. Regarding their Muay Thai program, zero. It is hard to research coaches when absolutely no information is given about them. Not even first names, no bios, nothing. http://www.dominionma.com/?page_id=50

Dominion has affiliated with Hyastan and seemed to have changed their BJJ affiliation as well: from Marra Senki JJ to Marcello Monteiro BJJ. A previous Bullshido thread does discuss Monteiro for what it is worth.

He brought a huge team to the grappling tourney yesterday in San Antonio. He had some decent grapplers, but they certainly were not behaving like sambists on the mat
(stylistically), for whatever that's worth. Several of them came up to me and asked me where I got my sambofski, and told me that their coach specializes in "Russian Sambo". He took a wide berth around me all day, though.

My favorite was his shirt that read "Combat Corner Professional".

LOL @ specializes in Russian Sambo! I wonder how he justifies that BS to them. A guy who never trained the style in his life is a specialist! A seminar with Nina and a video blog with Eugene don't mean squat. The lies that fly around that place must be awesome.

I heard he was avoiding Richard as well.

What the hell does "Combat Corner Professional" even mean??

Well, at least he is getting his folks out on the mat. Maybe they will come to the Austin Tournament?
I hope he goes legit, but I doubt he will. Hiding the bios and identities of yourself and your coaches in not a good way to start.

Looking back at Rodriguez's original "Bio," (June, 2012) he claimed to teach "Ju Ki Do, Arnis, Kuk Sool Won, Sambo". He briefly dropped the Sambo after being questioned about it, before putting it back later. Now he claims to teach "Ju Ki Do, Judo, BJJ, Arnis, Kuk Sool Won, Sambo, Hyastan Grappling." And, according to his student he specializes in Russian Sambo! What an improvement in 10 months!

Just an update on our friend at Dominion.

Last Tuesday, our friend Rey Rodriguez held a "Sambo" demo and seminar at a club in San Antonio called "Elite Moxie Gym"

It looks like Elite Moxie is planning a sambo program under Rodriguez...LOL. The man who never trained sambo at all.

This is what they posted and the resulting discussion:

Make plans for this Tuesday, April 30th at 6:30pm. We have the only certified Russian Sambo school in San Antonio coming in to do a demonstration. This is one of the most fascinating forms of martial arts.

Matthew J Glover I looked at the threads, I don't know the man or his credentials but as far as I know his school is the only place in san Antonio that teaches sambo, I'm sure he knows a heck of a lot more about sambo than I do and I'm sure I could learn from him.

Seems Dominion has changed their website again...LOL. Sadly, there is not any new information about the qualifications of their coaches. Why put that important information?

But the programs they offer have changed since last checked on this post:

The now don't offer to tech "sambo"...which is kind of a step in the right direction. Funny thing is that sambo is only listed in the "clinch" program...not is stand up or ground...LOL. Their class schedule for May only shows them as teaching 2 lunch hour sambo classes (down from 7 classes in the original post). Getting better Rey! Maybe he will quit the sambo BS all together one of these days.

We had a gym near by that was a Gokor affiliate. The guy was infamous in his local area. I think Coffeefan did an investigation on the guy. Gokor is not too discriminate.
