Well in China (as you should already know) it's not just about knowing how to use a proxy, but how to use a proxy and not get nailed by the authorities, since it is illegal and they monitor for it.
My personal advice is don't go showing your friends your awesome proxy access. The PRC authorities know people regularly bypass the GFoC and let it slide, but if they find out you're doing it to share censored media with friends, you could find some very nasty folks at your front door. -

Yes, but keep in mind they are more heavily monitoring who is using proxies than ever before. With 400 million internet users they have to target enforcement on people accessing the "wrong" things. But you could still find your internet shut off for no other reason than you accessed a proxy they were watching.
Chinese telecommunications monitoring and filtration gets more advanced every year...you might/might not know about this one, but speaking certain words over the phone in your country will cause the call to automatically drop.

There are other, better ways to get around the GFoC than proxies but it involves knowing the right people and places, if you get my drift.
