    Agreed.

I was just saying to somebody the other day, that from all the drugs I tried so far :-), the state I get to in training is the strongest and best.

As a psychologist-in-training I get the sense that the dude likes to hear himself talk. At the extreme he could be a narcissist. More likely he has a mild version that we in the field call "being kind of a self-important dick."

Oh how true. One year of golf motivated me to be violent more than a lifetime of martial arts.

When my coach asked today if we should play a little soccer as warmup, I answered with a classic quote:
Men shouldn't chase something that cannot be eaten or f-cked.

I've been on this site longer than 95% of the posters. I tired of being the one to dismantle arguments long ago. You should recall the posts of my glory days.

The boxing gym where I train and my kwoon resides is in one of the middle of one of the most violent, gang-infested towns in our lovely state.

Almost every day I show up, lots of kids under 10 are training there.

Why do these kids train to box? How is it different from my reasons?

Is it because they were exposed to violence, or because they are potential victims of it.

Or is it because their moms want them to work on strength, endurance, and positive self image, often with trainers who DO have a rough history of life on the street, or some other form of troubled past, to help them learn the lessons without having to go down that path.

Boxing gyms and martial arts schools can steer kids off a life on the street....away from crime, gangs, drugs, and other dangers.

In Stefan's world, none of this is really necessary if you "live in the woods" as he does.

Here's a simpler premise: violence affects everyone, some choose to condition themselves for that. It doesn't make them broken, it makes them smart animals.

"Imagine a life of peace of calm, imagine a life of intimacy and security. Imagine a life where you don't have to fight. Imagine a life where no one is gonna get you."

This is his advice. L.O. Motherfucking L. Which fucking world is that? Sure I can imagine that ****, but I also imagine a world where I can fly between planets at motherfucking faster than light speed while hot chicks deep all 3 of my cocks while anime babes stroke my balls. That doesn't make that **** real though.

And in most cases, peace, calm security, and not having to fight comes from being able to fight.

    Si vis pace, para bellum.

I para bellum every motherfucking time I get the chance to.

Also, that **** is crazy fun.

The **** is wrong with this guy?

I still practice martial arts in that world.

For some of us, training is something called "job-related".

Take care of things effectively or don't get paid.

    That sort of thing.

However, since we're into "activities-as-compensation/healing-for-some-past trauma", my hobby is wilderness hiking. What childhood damage did I suffer, herrDoktor?

I love when someone takes an introductory college psych course or reads a couple articles and feels like they need to be that daring rebel in a world of sheep. I bet we all are just scared by his courageous ability to question everything and turn our whole worlds upside down!
