No, they weren't choreographing. Just doing freestyle technique but with no application of any aikido principals whatsoever.

We overlook it a lot because 80% of our students train in a striking art and/or grappling art in addition to aikido. Also, we do have to practice aikido sometimes as well...just like judo, jujitsu, and MMA guys don't practice hitting pads and bags everyday.
