sand bag (as already mentioned) or maybe you could do dumbbell work instead if you don't have room for a barbelll and a squat rack.

i use a barbell for deadlifts, but since i don't have a squat rack, i use dumbbells for squats (bench press too, as i don't have a spotter.) right now my biggest issue is getting the dumbbells up to my shoulders, as the weight of dumbbells that i can load onto my shoulders are not really heavy enough to give me a hard time squatting (this should change as my upper body strength improves.)

I don't have enough dumbell weight to realy make a difference and I really don't need large snadbags in my life and stuff.

But I do have a girlfriend that weighs in @ 120lbs. I might just have her jump up on my back for a few sets...

Start by trying to hold it for a minute, then add minutes. It takes time to work up endurance for this exercise.

What the **** is this and why are you giving advice to do this piece of **** exercise? Seriously, what the **** is this supposed to accomplish? It's some kind of isometric static hold?

This is not a squat, it's nothing like a squat, and will not produce results remotely like a squat unless you start loading people up on your back and squatting up and down like a squat.

Haha. One of Phrost's pet peeves as well.

The thread is funny as hell, makes me thankful we have a gym at work.

I don't do any squats with weights, but do somewhere between 90 and 180 bodyweight squats every time I train.

Am I missing all the goodness, and if so, what is that goodness?
