    RIP Joe Lewis

Joe Lewis, a pioneer in introducing the notion of a full contact karate fight in the West has passed. His wikipedia page has been updated even though I fail to find any relevant news on any newssite.
    RIP Joe Lewis.

So far the only thing I found was the Wiki and a friend of mine mentioned it on facebook.

The father of Full Contact Karate in the US. RIP!

EDIT: Found something on his website.

I am pretty sure he is the only person to take a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick and live to tell the tale.

    RIP Joe.

He lost quite a few times against Norris, but only in no- or semi-contact fights. In early full-contact he had no equal.

I had no idea that he was even ill. He was one of my heroes too; inspirational.

Dang it! I'm really sad about this! I trained in the Joe Lewis fight system years ago and did seminars with him. He was really cool. This is a huge loss to the community, IMHO.

    RIP.
