Advice starting Judo

Yeah, I recommend it as well but it is not everyone's cup of tea. In Canada, all that is required for coloured belts is waza demos and kata. For dan ranks you need to acquire points, and although competing is a common way to get the "technical" points you can also get them by attending clinics, refereeing, etc. It takes a while longer but it can be done.

Serious medical mitigating circumstances aside, in my book, if you haven't competed for your black belt and at black belt you're not a proper black belt.

I agree with you guys, I don't even know why im asking about these things. All I want to do is learn, and if learning goes well if will lead to competing. I just had a goal in mind, black belt maybe, but didn't want to think so forward, competing.
