I'm puzzled about something: Motherfuckers train in combat sports and don't get all these fucked up concussions and ****. Although sometimes you get that **** in a fight.
If cats in the army are getting regular concussions then perhaps how hard they go in training needs to be revised.
While the enemy isn't going to go easy on you because you're a girl who's 5' 5" with brown eyes and 120lbs, getting hit in the head regularly by a ************ who is 6 feet + and weighs 220lbs is obviously a bad fucking idea.
Also, it is reasonable to think that you can learn to deal with a big ************ if your skills are appropriate without dealing with them wailing on you all the time. Excuse the stretch, but motherfuckers don't train with live blades just so they can learn to deal with being cut. This is because you're likely to get fucked up with blades and probably won't even make it into actual combat. Similarly, it may be necessary to tone that **** down so motherfuckers can make it to combat safely - and then get shot.
These concussions and **** aren't so common in combat sports training, perhaps the military should take a couple leaves from their books and ****.
Is the decreased frequency of such injuries in combat sports training because of better weight matchups, or different training methods?Last edited by The Question; 8/27/2012 12:49pm at .

Well, you have lots of fit young men and women with a minimum of fighting experience thrown into sparring in an environment that traditionally fosters a tough, gung-ho attitude, so its not surprising that they spar with enough intensity to injure each other. I'm guessing that they just train more intensely than a lot of civilian combat sports folks because of the culture.

There was a chap on JF a while back who was a professor at a US military academy, Richard Riehle.
According to him, a few years back they had an explosion of guys with massive shoulder injuries, because the troops had started doing a kimura grip sumi gaeshi during combative training and the guys were going at it so hard they were wrecking each others' shoulders with it. -

Indeed, to think i could have missed out on learning what a "tear gas" shot was.
(Double tequila, snort the salt, squeeze the lime in your eye.)
The sleeping UH soccer hotties that woke up to a 250 lb drunken, sleepwalking Marine pissing all over them and their bed might not agree though.
Fucker got us all booted...
