Giving the shot to a guy who hasn't competed at LHW in 5 years and isn't a contender in his own division makes as much sense as the rest of this crap.

Vitor is out due to an injury. Chael offered to take the fight but Jones again refused. UFC 152 is cancelled.

Jon Jones will fight Steven Seagal at UFC 153.

At this point, I wouldn't be that surprised if it ended up as Van Damme vs. Segal for the belt.

Jones vs Belfort now booked for Toronto

Jon Jones will now face former champion Vitor Belfort for the UFC light heavyweight championship on September 22 in Toronto, as today's bizarre series of events has taken yet another twist.

Jones was originally slated to face Dan Henderson at UFC 151 in Las Vegas; however, Henderson was forced to withdraw this week due to a knee injury. Polarizing former middleweight Chael Sonnen was offered the replacement spot and it briefly appeared that UFC 151 would take place with Jones vs. Sonnen as the headliner. However, Jones ultimately declined the fight, forcing the unprecedented cancellation of an entire UFC event.

This morning, UFC president Dana White announced that Jones would face former champion Lyoto Machida in a rematch that would headline the UFC 152 event on September 22. Machida earned the contender spot with his showcase knockout of Ryan Bader earlier this month. But this time it was Machida who declined the opportunity, opening the door for fellow Brazilian Belfort to earn the nod.

Belfort had been penciled in to fight Alan Belcher at middlewight at UFC 153 in Rio; a replacement for that fight will be announced in coming days.

Dana knows his "disgust" is a load of bullshit.

"Raaarrrrrgggh, I'm so disgusted with you Jones, here's the contract, date and fighter for 152."

The fact he is canceling 151 while Jones still fights is 152 is just funny. He knows where the money is and he won't go that route.

If he was so disgusted he'd get Jones stripped of the title, find the next contender, one that was good enough to draw, picked one skilled enough to lose to Sonnen , then 151 would still occur and 152 could be Jones Vs Sonnen.

There is absolutely no way that Sonnen deserves a title shot coming off a TKO loss in a title shot he already didn't deserve in a lower weight class. Jones is completely within his rights not to take that fight and it is bush league bullshit for White to blame Jackson or his fighter for a business decision that Zuffa made.
