Dana White screwed this up, but he sure as hell knows how to spin it and have press and fans eat out of his hand.

he should be getting all of it, the only reason jones is getting it is because he controlled the information coming out in the beginning. when you look at it, the perception of it all really doesn't gel with what happened chronologically. it's a classical scapegoat scenario, taking adavantage of the fact that jones was already unpopular.

Rugby players getting torn things taped up - and going right back in..bloody eyes and all, broken fingers whatehaveyou, Schilling pitching w/ the bloody-jacked-up ankle, Tito fighting w/ a cracked Orbital, Joe Calzaghe coming forward every second of fights he was winning by 8 rounds, Nick Diaz's triathlons in between fights, that's championship spirit. That's greatness.

That kind of drive is why I watch this sport. Not piddly-diddly maneuvering.

He's the champ, he's the best, he's 10 weeks primed to destroy a legend, he's lb 4 lb greatness, he's the future, he's even sponsored by the company, he's got a Nike deal...he's...he's....

Not willing to go through with the gig, that is built essentially on him defending his belt against someone. He's not hurt, no problems at camp, he should have done the gig.

If you're the best, beat up the other guy instead.

I agree, but the situation could've been handled in so many ways. In tin foil hat mode I even doubt the Sonnen fight was ever a real option, it just stinks of spin.

I don't. Quit comparing apples to oranges. Saying he should fight because these people exceeded injuries, DURING COMPETITION, is stupid. Point out, like some of the other MMA fighters, how they fought on 8 days notice or less. That's what makes him look bad, IMO, even if I agree he has the right to back out.

Yep, and this applies to ALL of the fighters, who "ducked" before he said no to Sonnen.

He was having a field day before this happened. They've been bickering since his 2nd loss to Silva. Like I said, there is more to this than we think. I hate the card was canceled, but Sonnen is the greatest troll in MMA. What do we all say here? Don't feed the trolls.

He wasn't fed, right or wrong. I think, if it was anyone else, I'd be bitching as well.

Go listen to that interview C posted to see what I mean. Jone's coach is very nice and respectful to Sonnen, but he does sneak in a well concealed dig.
