Help me convince my son to take Judo.

How to get a five-year-old into Judo (and other martial arts)?

Samurai manga, and vintage Easterns! :)

I have no idea about the English titles, releases, etc of these, though.

My guy started Jiu Jitsu at 7. My daughter was the one who originally asked to go (9), he was just tagging along. Turns out he was ready, she was not. I put them in all kinds of stuff, swimming, softball, football, ice skating. I don't care which one they do but they're gonna do something. They both took to swimming, she took to softball and he love BJJ. After his first football practice I asked what he liked about it, "the hitting" he told me.

Honestly just present it to him in a rational fashion and build a genuine interest and appreciation in him for the sport.

I've been going through a patch with my own son who has trained since he was 8, 19 now. I didnt force him but had him in class as if was just part of his day.

Unfortunately I instilled in him a passion for competition. Now I have to channel that back into an appreciation for judo.

I think Jake Larsen became the player he is because of the adult classes he took from the Lemayse brothers and his Colorado training. Not because he started at six. Just my opinion. I've had my ass kicked by all them.
