The ear slap is a devastating technique, if Paul Vunak is to be believed.

Vu loves the jow sao/ear slap, but even he would never advocate it against a takedown. It makes no sense. Vu would advise a sprawl, but places a lot of emphasis on securing guard, especially for beginners, because if it's sem-trained joe versus good wrestler, you're going down no matter what.
