I say go for it but be careful, some gyms aren't as nice to new-comers, also in the world of bjj it doesn't take much to break something.

However on the etiquette thing yes ask your coach, but if your coach says no, then I would rethink training at that gym. I train at many other gyms, with different people just so I can become more well rounded. My coach approved also.

I can't see why not, they are extremely chill there.
Their Kids BJJ program is great one of the best in San Diego you just have to look at competition results to see. They certainly are not going to get in the way of anything that is going to make your child a better competitor.

Yeah I was just thinking that, their ground game is great and after a year with them my son placed 1st in his first nogi tourney. Not complaining there, but to be competitive in the gi world, Judo needs to be incorporated and my son likes throwing too, lol. Last time I went to migoto, they said they sold their own gi's, did your wife and daughter have to buy a gi from them or did you go elsewhere?

My Daughter just uses the same gi she does for JuJitsu although to be fair it is a really cheap Judo gi (we got it for like $25).
They are very causal at Migoto I have seen kids using their TDK uniform.
However that being said the Gis they have there are fairly cheap my wife picked up hers from them and it was like $50.

You time it right you can take your son to the Kids class at Stronghold then right on over to the Judo place you will have to pull him out a tiny bit early but I know Henry won't care at all.

Even still there are assholes of every nature, I was rolling with someone from another gym that was getting beat consecutively, they decided to be cute and do a judo throw. Here I am 3 months later in a hand splint. Even though it may have been an accident, still an asshole move.
