New judging criteria

Excellent new criteria that takes damage into consideration, allows submission attempts to be scored, and finally defense doesn't count anymore.

Sorry Greg Jackson, no more fighting "not to lose'.

Definitely a HUGE step in the right direction. I wish they'd bring back the yellow card like in pride to keep people from stalling and just refusing to engage. They're paid to fight for god's sake lol. Thanks for sharing this.

2 and 4 are going to make this even more interesting. I've often wondered how much strategy goes into avoiding grappling because it doesn't score as well as strikes. Plus grappling, as mentioned in 4, it can be a detriment if it goes to decision.

I like these changes except for the defense part because that is part of ring generalship.

Defense with counter striking will score points.
Defense without, will score octagon control. Which is the lesser points, ie counts in a close decision.

Sounds good...

Until the same, still incompetent judges **** it up again regardless.

Oh, and the restrictions on a grounded opponent thing is still in place unfortunately.

Longing for the day OneFC becomes a serious enough competitor, subsequently resulting with UFC extending their ruleset to theirs.

While the grappling vs. striking changes seem like a good thing the reasoning behind effective damage has me a little concerned. If having bigger hits score more than smaller hits sounds like its just an attempt to root out technical striking over just throwing bombs. Potentially short and precise combos used by someone who may not hit as hard as others in their weight class would be considered less valuable by judges than someone who has more punching power and can throw a bomb and have no follow up.
