Charles Bennett has some good antics, but didn't quite make my list. I like when he casually reclined in the corner then held on to do a double teep.

    10. Jonathan Wiezorek enters UFC 47 with a broken back, but still manages to defeat opponent Wade Shipp. The fight was so ugly, however, that he was never invited back to the UFC again (A rarity for a victorious fighter in the Zuffa era).

    9. Before the fight in which he was killed, Douglas Dedge tried to strangle Sean Brockmole with his own handwraps in his lone amateur bout.

    8. Yoshiki Takahashi is choked out in his fight with Ken Shamrock in the second Pancrase event but is allowed to keep fighting. Shamrock held on too long while Takahashi grabbed the ropes for an escape, earning him a red card.

    7. Heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson knocks out wrestler Andre Sproul in France and nearly starts a riot.

    6. I mentioned this in another thread today, but: Cal Worsham suffers a punctured lung against Zane Frazier in UFC 9 but still manages to win.

    5. Don Frye is knocked out in a street fight by someone in Dog the Bounty Hunter’s crew.

    4. Gina Carano is photographed snuggling with lesbian fighter Tonya Evinger at a house party. Meanwhile, some chill dude in the background is just checking his text messages.

    3. Josh Koscheck has a protracted feud with GSP’s paramedic friend on TUF.

    2. David Spade tags a swig from a mysterious looking flask at UFC 60 before the Hughes vs. Gracie fight.

    1. A Penthouse model in the crowd at the first Extreme Fighting event looks visibly disgusted when Tommy Glanville (A kickboxer and future Bob Sapp victim) walks passed her with a bleeding facial wound he received from wrestler Gary Myers’ headbutts. Incidentally, the DVD extra of this event features porn.

    10. Many people believe the early Pancrase matches were worked. This is not explicitly true. What really went on most of the time was superior fighters "carrying" inexperienced fighters to give the crowd their money's worth. The skill gap between fighters in the old Pancrase roster was huge. On one end you had catch wrestling beasts like Minoru Suzuki and Masakatsu Funaki, who are still amazing to watch today. On the other end, you had Vernon White with a few months of training and inept "Australian wrestling champion" Gregory Smit.

    9. I should mention that this sometimes backfired. In their first fight, Funaki let Jason DeLucia put him in a kneebar for dramatic tension. He intended to go for an escape, but miscalculated his distance from the ropes. He ended up injuring his knee and having to submit. Just months after DeLucia tapped to Royce's armbar in UFC 2, he had submitted one of the best grapplers in MMA.

    8. Going back to extreme fighting and Mario Sperry: To hype Sperry up for the show, the announcers credited him with an undefeated Rickson-esque record of 300-0 or something like that. After the event, Royce claimed that nobody could have such a perfect record, contradicting te claims made by his own brother.

    7. Everyone on that show was given bullshit credentials, as a matter of fact. Rudyard Moncayo was said to have an undefeated record despite losing to Pat Smith in UFC 6 earlier that same year. He was also hyped up to be the Ecuadorian Vale Tudo Champion.

    6. Still on Extreme Fighting: Mr. T performed the backstage interviews for the first show and was a total fucking dork. He was also featured prominently on the box cover, fooling many people into buying the tape because they thought he would be fighting.

    5. In Extreme Fighting 2, the promoters tried to skirt the law by holding the show on a Canadian Indian reservation. It didn't work. Everyone got arrested that night. Except for Ralph Gracie, who hid in his friend's hotel room.

    4. On the same subject, the police barged into fighter Steve Nelson's room while he was having sex with his girlfriend. They watched her get dressed.

    3. Many of the fighters competing in Extreme Fighting 2 actually appeared together on the Jerry Springer show beforehand. When Steve Nelson was asked why he still fights despite his girlriend's disapproval, he responded "No man should abandon his dreams because of a woman."

    2. John Lewis also grapple-raped one of Springer's backstage workers.

    1. Kevin Rosier was spotted eating beer and pizza in the gym prior to UFC 1. He was also spotted eating candy bars prior to his alternate match in UFC 4.

    - 1. Teila Tuli, incidentally, supposedly did nothing but gorge on room service the day before UFC 1.

    - 2. Trent Jenkins cut Jason DeLucia with his toenail in their alternate match in UFC 1. Fighters had to cut their nails from that point on.

    - 3. Zane Frazier supposedly prepared for UFC 1 by participating in a fight club organized by the Crips. He says that's why there was a visible scar on his back in the first event.

-4. Before UFC 1, a press agent asked each fighter to hit a pad to see who was the most powerful. No one, from DeLucia to Shamrock to Gordeau, seems to agree who hit the hardest. Royce Gracie didn't hit the pad, simply telling the reporter that's not what he does.

    - 5. Teila Tuli now has a regular role on Hawaii Five-0.

    - 6. The most accomplished boxer the UFC had ever caught the interest of in the old days was James "Bonecrusher" Smith, who briefly held the WBA title in te 80's. His price was out of the UFC's range, however. Leon Spinks was also interested, but by the 90's his skills had diminished so much that Art Jimmerson and Melton Bowen were probably better.

^^^ Holy crap man, be my mma guru?

This was what I envisioned. If any of you are like me, you fish on youtube for good fight stuff, and moments. With any luck, this thread will continue to feed me, and others, moments to try to find more about.

This video is awesome from start to finish. Ariel Halwani (sp?) to me, is the very best interviewer in the mma game. Bas maybe, is better, but really, he's so tough, it results in a totally different dynamic.

Ariel is a perfect "Beta" counterpoint to the macho "Alpha" fighters.

Nice, I didn't know about this. They probably didn't have much exposure to grappling.

    I thinkz itz no good.

Anybody remember da Ion Wing on BET? It's the show that produced Jamie Yager, among other things. Floyd Mayweather was also involved with it, right around the time he had been ****-talking MMA to pander to boxing fans.

But the reason I bring it up is this:

The key point you should be paying attention to is his arm right after the slam. Do you see it?
