EFC Africa Light Heavyweight Champ sustains skull fracture, goes on to win fight.
The price of victory was high. During the bout, Joubert suffered a depression fracture to his skull, yet still managed to fight on and ultimately win. Health permitting, he hopes to be back to defend his title soon.
ďIím still waiting to hear the final doctorís verdict but it looks like I have surgery to look forward to, and itís not a small procedure. The fracture was definitely from the elbows that I took, and in my opinion elbows should be banned from MMA. I canít train for at least 6 weeks and itíll be a few months before my skull heals properly. Was it worth it? All I can say is MMA is in my blood, itís the sport I chose and I want to continue.Ē"
I haven't seen the fight yet, but I've been following the buildup on Facebook and I know there was some bad blood between these gentlemen. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Yeah I saw that fight. Joubert's tough as all hell but he looked more like a barroom brawler than anything else. He hardly landed a single shot on his opponent, Norman Wessels, for entire first round and a good part of the second. Norman totally dominated Joubert both in standing and on the ground, right up to the last thirty seconds. If they fight again I'd put money on Norman despite his loss.
Geeeeee, that looks nasty.
Wouldn't such an injury do something to the brain tissue as well?
Don't know the guy, but I hope he gets out of this in good health.

Fortunately that frontal region of the brain is mostly just your reasoning and personality stuff.

Reminds me of Zane Frazier vs. Cal Worsham in UFC 9. Frazier punctured Worsham's lung wth a knee, but Worsham still went on to win.
