PDS Rifles Style: Univ. Florida Kickboxing--
I once posted something like this. Omega punched me in the face through the internet. I almost got 3rd place on that tournament due to that motivation. This was before I did anything MMA with only a month or so of hard Judo training on top of my l33t Hapkido-based striking skills. Even then I was very good at not getting taken down, but 1. everyone I went against were jujitsu guys and didn't really know wrestling 2. I still ended up on the ground in all of my 5 matches. Just warning you.

Style: TKD, CMA & American Kenpo--
Develop your ground skills, maintain your stand-up skills, learn to transition between striking, clinching and grappling. I learned the hard way that being overly dependent on one set of skills may be your undoing.
Ignore my rant. Bottom line: Prepare for the takedown instead of trying to avoid it. If your stand-up game in on, work toward trying to come off the ground and get back to standing after the takedown.
If it has Tires or Tits, expect problems.
