It is similar. All power training in the chinese systems will have some component of standing.
Once you relax, you move. Hence you do standing before and after you move to come back to that relaxed state.
Also Zhang Zhuang is not just standing, as many systems use mental imagery added to the standing for specific purposes. Yiquan has many of these mental training concepts as well.
Again for the beginning level just relax and learn to relax, more advanced concepts come into black hand/poison hand higher level of Iron Palm training.
You need to train the mind and entrain what you are doing, and what you are feeling when you are doing it. Hence you cannot train and watch TV, or be distracted as that will entrain incorrect practices.
