I'm quite ambivalent about these Olympics, since I live in London and work right next to Wembley Stadium, so as some dude said: "Its like someone's throwing a party in my house with a ridiculous entry fee and I'm locked in the basement". (Seriously, they're saying things like "Consider walking to work instead of taking the train")
HOWEVER, since the damn thing is happening anyway, here are the South Africans in the combat sports.
Judo:
Mens 73kg - Gideon Van Zyl
Boxing:
Bantamweight - Ayabonga Sonjica
Welterweight - Siphiwe Lusizi
I honestly doubt we'll win any of these, but distance breeds patriotism! -

Sydney Olympics saw me see a shitload of events and the opening ceremony in the flesh and I don't remember any of it. That's what you get when you turn the legal drinking age two months prior. Funnily enough I don't remember finishing school either. Come to think of it, I never saw a certificate. Maybe I didn't. Don't drink and drug, kids.
Anyone complaining about the Olympics being in their city needs to take a long, hard look at themselves while inserting a skewer in their urethra. The introspection is to better understand yourself and your snobbery, and the skewer is unnecessary, but I just want you to think about it and shudder, ingrate.
Anyway, I am very much looking forward to the Olympics. I really want to see the judo!!! -

Its not so much the Olympics being in the city, that's pretty damn cool. Its more the downright insulting way its being organised that gets me.
I mean its a huge undertaking and I totally respect that, but its also severely impacting my life and livelyhood.
Also the ticket lottery thing was a complete fiasco.
Still, enough whining, yay Judo! -

Its more silly buggery like this that's annoying people

Up close...

Yes that's right that's a lane that splits into a Bus Lane and an Olympic lane. Driving in either one of those is a £130 fine.
So you're driving along and all of a sudden you have a choice of:
A. Jam on you breaks and cause a pile up.
B. Get hit with a £130 fine and possibly points on your licence.
C. Do a suicidal swerve into oncoming traffic.
