The cops were not there and the shooting occurred before they arrived. So, you may have been one of the 12 killed or 38 injured when they finally showed up.

I just did a quick look-up of spree killings around the world. these things are disturbingly common.

Europe is turning into a warzone. 295 deaths to America's 292 since 1913. Even with a tiny fraction of America's private weapon ownership.

Not to sound insensitive, but <600 deaths across the US and Europe since 1913 is a pretty insignificant number compared to pretty much any other cause of death you'd want to mention. I wouldn't call it disturbingly common, I mean, Detroit alone typically manages over half of that in homicides in a single year.

I feel horrible about these people, but to think that this can "never happen to me or to my community" is just plain stupid. People choosing to be like this is beyond me.

If I had a private business open to the public, I think I would avoid any comment on permitted weapons and not set a policy, just follow local law. I have no idea how these scenarios would work out either way.

Missed my point. Was (obtusely/sarcastically) demonstrating that these things are a common enough (comparatively) across the whole first world; and that America is not unique or exceptional in any category other than number of incidents (high) and severity (low).
