Florin's MMA

So there's this Gym in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, with a very nice page (florins.ca). If you look at their BJJ program, some things are fishy :

- No mention of any competition record or medals.
- Master Florin is a brown belt under a De la Riva black belt named Professor Vicente Jr.
- Master Florin, in the white gi, is shown rolling with Jonas Jr, another black belt, in a youtube video referenced from their promotional page. For reference :
- In their promotional photo, which was taken during a seminar given by Professor Vincente, Florin wears a torn old black belt (and not his BJJ brown belt).
- No other videos of Master Florin are available.

So what are you asking? Implying? Is his lineage not legit? You need to do a bit more work on this please.

It is easy to use google. Also, some people don't compete and that is an argument for another thread.

Why is this fishy?

He teaches other arts, there may be a simple explanation. I can think of one that isn't fishy.

Well his website shows he teaches other arts. Could it be he wears a Black Belt in when he teaches his MMA program instead of something fishy and insidious?

So are you saying that even though he doesn't make any spectacular or false claims, you have concluded that his school is doing something wrong?

Yes, but not necessarily in Martial Arts BS, Fraud, Investigations, and Standards

After looking at Florin's site i could see nothing that i would call suspicious. His MMA team competes in local events (Sherdog: Get Wrecked!) so i really can't see what the OPs problem is with this place/guy.

It's a TKD gym getting in on the popularity of MMA. Not bad dudes. They have been to some of the ammys round this way (I don't think any of their guys won) and they had a guy fight pro twice (lost to a good guy, beat a guy who was 13 pounds over,is possibly mentally ill name TJ Coletti).
Anyway, Master Florin did one of those cheesy vids. Good for him i guess.

he is also pretty good at fancy kicks.
